The Black Karate Kid…really?
Just a bit contrived. Will and Jada are pulling a Billy Ray Cyrus and attempting to ensure that Jaden will have some guaranteed work over the next 6 years or so. There will be a sequel to this film, whether it goes to direct-to-DVD is a mystery. Sigh…what a ply…but I love Taraji and it’s nice to see Jackie Chan again…no complaints here.
Travis McCoy – Lazarus [Artwork]
Official artwork from the forthcoming “Lazarus,” Travie McCoy’s solo debut. If Billionaire feat. Bruno Mars is any indication of how the record from the Gym Class Heroes’ frontman will sound, I think I’ll be able to live with it. “Lazarus” drop June 8th.
I Fight Dragons re-release “Cool Is Just A Number,” tour with 3OH!3 and Travie McCoy

PHOTO FINISH/ATLANTIC GROUP I FIGHT DRAGONS
RE-RELEASE EP, “COOL IS JUST A NUMBER…”;
CHICAGO CHIPTUNE ROCKERS JOIN 3OH!3,
COBRA STARSHIP AND TRAVIE MCCOY ON TOUR
Photo Finish/Atlantic recording group I Fight Dragons has just re-released their EP, “COOL IS JUST A NUMBER…”. The Chicago-based band is currently part of the “Too Fast For Love” tour, presented by MTV and featuring Photo Finish labelmates 3OH!3 alongside Cobra Starship and Travie McCoy. The tour, which kicked off late last month and continues through June 13thin Asbury Park, NJ, includes a stop in the band’s hometown on May 15th as part of the inaugural Bamboozle Chicago. See below for itinerary.
“COOL IS JUST A NUMBER…” showcases I Fight Dragons’ digitized, daring approach to music, mixing chiptune and pop-rock. The group creates original songs not only with traditional rock elements but also by using old video game soundcards. Founded in 2008, I Fight Dragons first began using synthesizers to create their sought after sound, but quickly learned about chiptune. By accessing Nintendo and Gameboy soundcards, the band was able to control them in the studio. Even live, the band uses Nintendo controllers that function as instruments.
The “COOL IS JUST A NUMBER…” re-release includes the brand new track “Don’t You.” The new six-and-a-half song EP is available at http://store.ifightdragons.com or on the “Too Fast For Love” tour. I Fight Dragons will head back into the studio following their tour to finish their full-length debut. In the meantime, visit http://ifightdragons.com/bonus/ to receive four free bonus downloads including live and acoustic tracks.

With a sound built upon a resolute sense of purpose and shaped by hundreds of explosive live shows, PRIESTESS’ Prior to the Fire is an electric recording, bringing to light a colorful pool of both creativity and innovation. The long-awaited follow up to 2006’s critically acclaimed debut Hello Master, Prior to the Fire has met to shining fan and critical acclaim, being called “pure enjoyment” by The Onion, “a heavier, angrier hammer” by Decibel and “awesomely adept” by SPIN.

“After 2006′s acclaimed debut, Hello Master, this Montreal metal foursome had to cut through a mass of red tape before Fire, their long-gestating follow-up, could get a U.S. release date. Someone should be fired for the delay, because this baby burns. Whether it’s galloping epics (“The Gem”) or thrashy revenge fantasies (“Ladykiller”), the band proves awesomely adept at casting a multitude of dark spells.” - SPIN
“Where they separate themselves from mere revivalists like Wolfmother is Mikey Heppner’s skillful song craft; rather than just cleverly aping the sounds of his favorite bands, he disassembles and reassembles them in unexpected ways, which is what gives songs both short (the catchy, fiery “Lunar”) and long (the surprisingly complex “The Gem”) their power. Prior To The Fire, should put them on the musical map once and for all.” – THE ONION
“Montreal’s Priestess comes on like a Southern-fried Priest or Lizzy…a groovy metal throwdown” – TIME OUT NEW YORK
“It may have taken them four years to make, but Priestess sound ready to contend for the heavy metal crown, so it was worth the wait.” – CMJ
“a far more deliberate approach than the Mastodons and Baronesses of the world, emphasizing groove over dexterity…this album absolutely smokes” – POPMATTERS
“After rockin’ our world with the first taste of Prior To The Fire late last year, the “Ladykiller”s are back…oodles of thrashy riffage…dual leads ala Iron Maiden…dudes have riffs.”- BROOKLYN VEGAN
“There’s more going on in the Priestess galaxy than brainless thud – there’s just enough art in its attack to set it leagues above its neo-metal peers” – THE BIG TAKEOVER
“Prior to the Fire has an undeniable urgency. The band has redoubled its already remarkable ability to write hooky, infectious songs that hitch hair-metal giddiness to stoner metaphysics: “Raccoon Eyes” and “We Ride” have humor and Camaro-rock sass, while “The Gem” and “Trapped in Space and Time” bring the astral travel.” – CHICAGO READER
“Albums like this worship at the First Church of the Distorted Riff, which transports you somewhere not of this earth.” - AOL MUSIC’s “Noisecreep”
“an immensely listenable experience that stands Priestess shoulder-to-shoulder with such like-minded contemporaries as Queens of The Stone Age, the Sword and Wolfmother.” – SHOCK HOUND
‘In addition to boasting great riffs and infectious beats, in their slower moments Priestess expands on the progressive and psychedelic influences that “Hello…” only alluded to as they use organ on a few tracks. There are potential hits on here too, like the songs “Raccoon Eyes” and “Sideways Attack,” though breaking into the mainstream is likely not of great concern to the band.” – AQUARIAN WEEKLY
“Following in the footsteps of Queens of the Stone Age and Wolfmother, this Canadian quartet kicks out raucous boogie-metal stomps with plenty of attitude. Fortunately, that attitude is informed by the blue-collar spirit of ’70s icons like AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, and yes, Judas Priest… these guys are no joke.” – MAXIM
