Heartbreak Drake working on "Best I Ever Had" video

Drake told MTV News before his show at Manhattan’s S.O.B.’s that he’s in the process of putting together a video for the song.

“I been working with a couple people on some ideas,” he explained. “I don’t wanna say who yet, because everything isn’t confirmed yet. It should be pretty solid in the next few days. The biggest thing about that song is that a lot of women come up to me and say, ‘That’s my song, because it really makes me feel special.’ So I told the directors that were interested that I just want the visuals to coincide with that feeling. I want women to feel special when they watch the visual and say, ‘I wish that was me,’ or ‘I know that feeling.’ That’s the goal with the video — to be genuine and not sappy. Be sexy and keep it together, but still make women smile.”

The Toronto-based MC said he hopes to finish the clip by next month’s BET Awards. In June, the currently unsigned artist will also begin working on his debut album. Drake is rumored to be working with Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, among others.

T.I. – A Year and a Day (mixtape)

A Year and a Day Album Art

As the world knows, our trigger happy pint-sized rapper T.I. is serving a year and a day in prison due to his insatiable need for protection.  As you probably already know, he dropped a mixtape before he reported for his sentence right after Memorial Day.  This is his parting gift for the streets.

This mixtape features some of your faves including Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, up-and-coming ATL artist B.o.B. (aka Bobby Ray) and the now infamous Chris Brown.

If you need it hit me up and I’ll get it to you.

Billy Bob Thornton’s daughter charged in death of a 1-year-old baby

Brumfeld/Thornton

Billy Bob Thornton’s oldest daughter, Amanda Brumfield, has been charged with child neglect in the death of a one-year old she was babysitting.  Back in October, Brumfield told police that the child had died after falling from her playpen but detectives have determined that her story was fabricated.  Autopsy reports reveal that the child suffered a fractured skull and a subdural hematoma due to blunt trauma.

Sorry Amanda, that doesn’t typically happen when a child takes a fall from a playpen.

Police said Brumfield, 29, did not call for help for two and a half hours.

Alicia Keys…homewrecker?!

This fishy little story has been reported for a while but I’m having a hard time grasping the concept of Alicia Keys as a homewrecker.  I mean she used to have a Chris Brown squeaky clean kind of image.  She’s always at these luncheons fueled by a whole bunch of positivity…how could she?!  Well, despite initial denials, it’s apparently all true.  Alicia Keys and mega-producer Swizz Beatz are having an affair…Swizz’s wife Mashonda has publicly confirmed.

I’m just glad to know that I’m not the only one that is having trouble swallowing this pill.  Mashonda has released a new record entitled ‘Dirty Laundry’ which is not meant to be a diss record, but it is based on the current situation.  She says that she and Swizz are still legally married but made no mention of how things will progress in the immediate future.

It’s a boy! Kimora Lee and Djimon Hounsou’s first child

Kimora Lee in Labor

Kimora Lee gave birth to her first son and boyfriend Djimon Hounsou’s first child.  While I hope the child is happy and healthy and everything, I can’t help but talk about Kimora Lee a little.  This woman is a G!  She is following the pimp manual step-by-step, line-by-line!  First she obliterated Russell Simmons by making the man launch her clothing line then she had two children to guarantee a lifetime in the lap of luxury (check and checkmate!) then she left him high and dry with the largest child support payment in the world!  She took her girls and her reality TV show and jumped into bed with Amistad.  I ain’t mad at ya girl…

The-Dream and Christina Milian…engaged!

The-Dream and Christina Milian

The-Dream and Christina Milian are apparently engaged.  Gross!  Is this how Christina’s coping with Nick & Mariah’s apparent bliss?  Everyone seems real nonchalant, but it’s official now!

While on our way inside DAR Constitution Hall Thursday night to see the Washington, DC, leg of Keyshia Cole’s A Different Me tour, S2S ran into lovebirds Terius “The Dream” Nash and Christina Milian. They told us they’re getting married and planning to have an engagement party in the Bahamas. Keyshia told us backstage that she wanted to give The Dream and Christina a shout-out during her performance, but she wanted to wait until they said something first. Well, they’ve said it, so it’s official! Congratulations to the happy couple! The Dream was once married to R&B singer Nivea. The couple has a daughter together. This will be Christina’s first marriage.

Stay tuned…

Rihanna’s back! (Kanye’s West’s video "Paranoid"), Chris Brown talks back!

It appears that Rihanna has made an executive decision to carry on with her life.  I always knew she was smarter than she seemed.  Her grand entrance back into the land of the living was jump started by her performance as the centerpiece in Kanye West’s new video “Paranoid.”

Her ex-boyfriend (and alleged attacker) Chris Brown on the other hand is scrapping for leftovers at the bottom of the barrel.  Brown recently released a 37 second video for his “true” fans announcing the title of the album he’s currently working on.  The album will be called Graffiti and Brown says that a single will be released this summer.  After months of silence, he also lashes out a little at all of the “haters” that have been hounding him since he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year.  We’ll see how all of this plays out.  Check the video.

Lady Gaga…explain

Rolling Stone cover - Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga…I just don’t get her.  She’s touted as this “pop princess” and Katy Perry should apparently be preparing to be dethroned but I just don’t see this girl’s “it” factor.  Her voice doesn’t impress me and her songs lean towards techno (of which I’m not a huge fan).  Yet here she is in her infamous bubble dress on the cover of Rolling Stone, one of the most respected magazines in the biz.  This girl seems like the music industry’s own Angelin Jolie.  If anyone out there can help me understand her, please impart the knowledge.  I’m begging!

T.I. on CP time

Dear Mr. T.I. (aka Clifford Harris, Jr.),

Where in the world do you get off showing up late to begin your prison term?!  Are you crazy?  They were already so lenient dropping your sentence from 10 years to 1 year and a day with the deal.  C’mon man.

Sources say that T.I. indeed showed up later than his 1pm deadline to the prison in Conway, AR and that he DID NOT marry his long-time sweetheart Tameka Cottle before reporting.

DJ Hero + the music industry

Call me crazy, but I think Activision may be onto something with this line of “Hero” games.  Guitar Hero, Band Hero (coming soon), DJ Hero (also coming soon) are great games that move weight.  More importantly, they’re available for a wide array of popular gaming systems including Wii and Playstation.  DJ Hero is now being developed to expand Activision’s reach into other genres including R&B and Hip-Hop.  Above is a shot of what the controller is rumored to look like.  Details of the game have been trickling through many sources, but nothing concrete from Activision has been revealed except that the game is coming soon.

Where might the music industry come in?

I really think this could mean big things for the music industry if they jump on the band wagon.  There is obviously an established relationship between the labels and Activision that gets these artists paid for use of their material in the game.  Now that Activision is making a diligent effort to cover as many genres as possible, depending on costs, most every artist can release a playable version of their albums.  It’s very unlikely that these versions will be able to be pirated so this might generate sales for artists and labels.  What if labels sold their respective artists’ catalogues?   This would give gamers more variety and possibly put some money in the pockets of artists and record labels.  I know it’s a stretch, but hey, it could happen!
