I missed the madness that was last week’s ticket on-sale for the Avett Brothers homecoming concert. This weekend I pulled a shift a the Gym Class Heroes ticket on-sale campout. These people are crazy. Some people had been waiting since 1pm! All’s well that ends well. I came back in the morning on Saturday when the tickets actually went on sale and was met by the camera crew for the Robertson Documentary along with none other than the infamous Madeline Walter. What a way to wake up. We did some interviewing at UNC then some in the studio, then some more at Duke. It took hours. Finally, that night was the Eric Benet concert at the Carolina Theater. It was really good. I couldn’t hear or understand anything that Dwele was saying but he definitely had stage presence. Eric still has it :)

The week…
I attended my first WXYC board meeting on Monday night…if those aren’t some of the weirdest people I’ve ever met…I don’t know who they are! I see what Tim meant when he said I was going to need an army to fight these people. They are in their own little bubble and see their station and the way it’s run as completely normal…and GOOD. You’re greatest listenership comes from Russia! That’s a problem for a community/university/local radio station.
Universal Buzz Intelligence is a cool place to intern…but I don’t really know what I’m getting out of it. Research is cool and everything but I don’t see the result of my efforts. Jake makes me a little nervous too. He’s really cool and really funny but I’m just not comfortable with him. Parking is also a hassle. We’ll wait it out.
Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business Intercollegiate Business Conference – Boston, MA
HUWIB for short. What a mouthful. Annalee and I were really feeling ourselves and got a little excited about these personal development funds available to us. So we decided to take a half week to go to a conference in Boston…on the Robertson Program. Overall…the conference was pretty cool. The speakers (Bobbi Brown, Stacey Snider, etc.) were amazing but those million participants were quite a lot. Boston is really cool though. I hadn’t spent a lot of time there but it was pretty cool. The subways are easy (fairly, definitely easier than NY) and they are never crowded. I could do Boston.
We actually went up on Wednesday before the conference actually started in hopes of seeing the Janet Jackson concert on the first but we were one of her many stops that she cancelled on the tour. Not cool! Ugh…Janet. My fanship is dwindling…
